대한민국의 기적, 이제는 나눔으로

Beautiful Sharing, Wonderful Growing

> What We Do > ODA Policy & Structure

By Region

Korea’s ODA has been primarily concentrated on Asian countries, by reason of geographical proximity and cultural affinity. While the Korean government seeks to maintain its regional focus on Asia, it is gradually increasing the share of ODA to Africa, based on the ODA Advancement Plan (2010).

In 2018, 46.7% of Korea’s aid went to Asia, while 27% went to Africa. Thus, these two regions received approximately 73% of Korea’s total ODA. As demonstrated in the below chart on ODA flows by region in 2014-2018, the volume of ODA to Asian countries in recent years has remained high. Meanwhile, Korea’s aid to Africa has been progressively growing, reinforcing humanitarian assistance to this region.
